Introducing Calgary Chiropractor Dr. Alma Nenshi
The doctor told my parents it was all in my head and I didn’t want to do my homework!
When I was young I suffered with headaches. My pediatricians sent me to specialist after specialist who tried to diagnose the cause of my headaches but were unsuccessful. In the end my parents were told that my headaches were all in my head and that I was probably using them as an excuse not to do my homework.
Luckily one day I accompanied my father to one of his regular chiropractic appointments. The doctor took one look at me and knew I was suffering with a headache and offered to do a complete history and examination. What he found was surprising. I had several joint misalignments in my spine that could have stemmed from a minor motor vehicle accident that occurred several years prior, and his treatment for this was a chiropractic adjustment.
My first adjustment is one I will remember and appreciate for the rest of my life. I felt a huge weight lifted off my shoulders as that one gentle movement cured me of my childhood migraines. It was the result of this healing miracle that, at the age of 13, I made it my life’s goal to become a chiropractor, to help people recognize the healing potential within them the same way Dr. MacKay helped me recognize it in me.
My undergraduate degrees in Biology and Psychology at McMaster University prepared me for my chiropractic career at the National College of Chiropractic, a five academic year program with a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, neurology, x-ray, diagnosis, nutrition, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the Salvation Army Downtown Chicago Chiropractic Clinic. I also became certified in Acupuncture and Meridian therapy, and while in practice in Alberta, I completed a one year certification program in chiropractic pregnancy and pediatric care from the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.
As your chiropractor, I take your health and wellness very seriously. In addition to investing in ongoing continuing education in the fields of nutrition and health, I personally receive chiropractic care on a weekly basis so that my nervous system is working at an optimum level and I am able to serve you and your family to the best of my ability. Some of the most moving, soul-satisfying and deeply fulfilling aspects of my practice are the simple acts of kindness I witness from my patients everyday. I get goose bumps when I overhear patients sharing their chiropractic success stories with others in the reception area giving hope to those who may be suffering with similar symptoms, or patients referring their friends and family for care so they too can reach their wellness goals, or even the generous act of writing a testimonial to share with people like yourself who are considering the chiropractic lifestyle. The positive energy and momentum these acts create help to motivate and inspire everyone in the practice, and I am truly grateful for this.
I expect miracles with every patient because I believe and honour the healing potential within each of us. During our initial appointments we will identify your health and wellness goals, and then I will be your coach in helping you achieve them. However much you want to do is always up to you, and I will help you in whatever way I can. This is my commitment to you.
So if you would like to consider chiropractic care, be it for symptom relief or a wellness check up, I invite you to call or email the office for an appointment. Who knows, this might be what your nervous system has been waiting for! Trust your inner wisdom. If you practice doing what it asks you to do, you too can expect miracles!
